Benny Nemerofsky Ramsay (CA)

Je changerais d’avis
(2000) 04.00 min.

(Heerlen / Wilhelminaplein 4)
The piece Je changerais d’avis is about the dilemma whether or how to tell someone that you love someone else, but especially about the realisation that one single language is insufficient to express feelings of this nature. Influenced by mass media and information technology, Benny Nemerofsky Ramsay (1973) has created a ‘multi-screen’ work in which these moods are conveyed in different spoken languages, sign language, and through visual images used in weather stations. It is a desperate love song accompanied by web cameras, weather forecasts and simultaneous translations.
Another piece by Benny Nemerofsky Ramsay, Portrait of a Young Man, is also included in Paraphrasing Babel, Maastricht, Boschstraat 46.
