The Return
(Maastricht / Bassin – onder de brug)
Benny Nemerofsky Ramsay (1973) has asked several young sopranos to imitate the sound of sirens. One of the first times, Beni Klocker, a singer from the Vienna boys’ choir, sang the call. In various arrangements, different ‘sirens’ are heard blasting from a gold-clad loudspeaker. The reference to a real siren is clear, but an attentive listener will also discover the human voices of the young singers. Partially horn, partially siren, The Return is an ode to intensive listening. Different versions of The Return can be heard in Maastricht as well as Heerlen.
