What Comes Up Goes Around (2023)
A lecture by an ambiguous character who, in a mix of rhymes, skipped thoughts, stories, repetitions and actual facts, and with the use of props to illustrate his points, questions the way we perceive and understand the world around us. Martina Laruffa is an artist and filmmaker whose work comprises experimental films, installations, drawing and painting. Her work stems from a fascination with the truth to be found in the fictional, and the fiction to be found in the real. In What Comes Up Goes Around, she approaches the act of storytelling as an ongoing research of existing ‘stories’. She gathers elements from history, folklore, sciences, philosophy, spiritual wisdom and literature to imagine upon, playfully crossing boundaries between different types of sources.
