Viewmaster Foundation, the Maastricht Academy for Fine Arts and Design and Maastricht University / Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (Media Culture Master) organise a symposium on the dynamic relationship between virtuality and reality in public spaces and the role of video art in that. How does the public space act when it is used for alternative artistic purposes?

PERFORMANCE EVENING B32 / OCTOBER 20th

Within the framework of For Real, artist initiative B32 and Viewmaster Foundation organise Cartune Xprez, composed by artists and curator Peter Burr (Portland, USA). Under the title Future Television, Burr brings a performance evening full of experimental cartoon screenings, comprising part video, live theatre, psychedelic rebellion and an animation show.
Prior to Peter Burr’s show, Viewmaster Foundation will provide a tour of the Maastricht section of For Real, starting at B32. Start: 20:00 hrs (until 21.00 hrs)

Within the framework of For Real, Filmtheater Lumière Maastricht will be showing three special films that are in line with the central theme of the exhibition. The connection is the way in which alternative filmmakers use conventions from the gaming world to create a parallel, cinematic universe. The boundary between the virtual and so-called real world is always crossed, which leads to an existential crisis in the main character on more than one occasion.
