One Hundred Meters Falling, (2020)
One Hundred Meters Falling is part of a series of performances created in an adapted version of the video game Grand Theft Auto 5, a video game that presents a fictional metropolis – with its own real estate market – in economic crisis. In this digital environment, gamers can play as violently as they want. By modifying the game’s internal logic, Amauta García and David Camargo were able to make an avatar perform impossible missions, such as a return to the womb. This mission takes shape through a self-destructive leap of faith. A leap from a skyscraper leads towards certain death. Or does it? The computer animation is a search for tenderness in contexts that can be very aggressive, such as the video game Grand Theft Auto or life in a big city.
