Leaving the Box (2021)
Leaving the Box tells the story of Nasir, an Afghan boy who has to flee his country because of the civil war. While fleeing, he meets a girl named Sita. Unlike Nasir, she refuses to leave the country.
This is Osman Taheri’s first major animation project, and it was informed by the recent turn of events in Afghanistan. He hopes it will raise awareness of the plight of Afghan refugees.
Taheri participated in The Narrative in 2021, a collaboration between Zuyd University of Applied Sciences and Viewmaster Projects_Educatie. The result is this short animation that merits his inclusion in No Access.
